Anfield, Lancashire   (Urban locality)

Anfield is a suburb of Liverpool, Lancashire. The Anfield area (previously spelt Annfield) lay at the southern end of Walton on the Hill township and was, at the start of the 19th century, the location of Annfield House and the Holy Trinity Church. The area was developed during the 19th century, although the township was not made part of the Liverpool county borough until 1895. The area is famous as the location of Anfield stadium, initially the home of Everton FC (1884-1891) and then the home of Liverpool FC since the club's formation in 1892. Anfield is within the council area of Liverpool.
