Minster Abbey is a ruined monastery at Minster, Kent. The abbey was founded in 664 by Queen Sexburga, the widow of Ercombert, king of Kent. A large and probably wealthy foundation with 77 nuns, the nunnery had become ruined and deserted by the time of the Conquest. In 1130 the house was re-edified as a priory by Archbishop William de Corbevil. It was supressed in 1536. The upstanding remains include parts of the abbey church and the gatehouse which date to the 12th century. These are surrounded by the foundations and other buried remains of the rest of the 12th to 16th century monastic complex, all sited within the area of the precinct. The monument is within the council area of Swale (Kent).

Newminster Abbey was a Cistercian abbey in Northumberland. Ranulph de Merlay, Lord of Morpeth, founded the abbey in 1137 and Saint Robert of Newminster from the Cistercian Fountains Abbey was appointed as the first abbot. The year after its foundation it was burned in an attack by Scottish raiders and was later dissolved in 1537. After closure the estate was leased by the Crown by the Grey family.The estate including the site of the abbey was sold by the Crown to Robert Brandling in 1609, and was sold on by the Brandling family in 1709 to John Ord of Fenham. It is within the council area of Northumberland.

Southwell Minster (formally the Cathedral and Parish Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary) is a Church of England cathedral in Southwell, Nottinghamshire. It is the seat of the Bishop of Southwell and Nottingham. The present church mostly dates from 1108-1150 when an earlier church was rebuilt in Romanesque style. The chancel was rebuilt from 1234-1251 in the Early English Gothic style. The chapter house dates from 1288. It became a cathedral in 1884. It is within the council area of Newark and Southwell (Nottinghamshire).

Westminster Cathedral (formally the Cathedral Church of the Most Holy Blood, St Mary, St Joseph and St Peter) is a Roman Catholic cathedral in Westminster, Middlesex. It is the seat of the Archbishop of Westminster. It was constructed from 1895-1903 and designed by John Francis Bentley in a 9th-century Christian neo-Byzantine style. It is made almost entirely of brick. Betjeman called it "a masterpiece in striped brick and stone". The cathedral is within the council area of Westminster.

York Minster (formally the Cathedral and Metropolitical Church of St Peter) is a Church of England cathedral in York, Yorkshire. The minster is the seat of the archbishop of York. The first record of a church on the site dates to 627. The present building was constructed between 1220-1472. It consists of Early English Gothic north and south transepts, a Decorated Gothic nave and chapter house, and a Perpendicular Gothic eastern arm and central tower. The minster retains most of its mediæval stained glass. The east window, which depicts the Last Judgment, is the largest expanse of mediæval stained glass in the world. The minster is within the council area of York.
