Yorkshire Wolds, Yorkshire

The Yorkshire Wolds is an area of low hills in Yorkshire. The Wolds contain the only hills of any size in the East Riding. The highest point in the East Riding is at Bishop Wilton Wold at 807 feet. On the western edge the Wolds rise to an escarpment which then drops sharply to the Vale of York. To the north of the Wolds, on the other side of the Vale of Pickering, lie the North York Moors, and to the east the Wolds flatten into the plain of Holderness. The largest town in the Wolds is Driffield. The Yorkshire Wolds are within the council area of East Riding of Yorkshire.
