York Town, Surrey

York Town (or Yorktown) is an urban area in Camberley, Surrey. York Town developed to the south of Royal Military College of Sandringham after its construction in 1812. It was named for Prince Frederick, Duke of York and Albany, who authorised the construction of the college. Camberley (originally Cambridge Town) developed to its east after the Staff College opened in 1862. The two have long since become contiguous. It is within the council area of Surrey Heath (Surrey).
