Yiewsley, Middlesex

Yiewsley is a large suburban village in Middlesex. Yiewsley was an agrarian village until the opening of Grand Union Canal in 1794 led to the expansion of the local brick-making industry. The arrival of the Great Western Railway and the building of West Drayton station in 1838 led to further growth. St Matthew's Church (1859) was designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott. The village is within the council area of Hillingdon.
