Yate, Gloucestershire
Yate is a town in Gloucestershire. Yate remained a small rural village until the 1920s. Growth began following the opening of the Parnall aeroplane factory in the 1920s. The village saw large-scale development from the 1950s, growing into a town which is now contiguous with Chipping Sodbury to its east. St Mary's Church dates from Norman times. The town is within the council area of South Gloucestershire.
