Yardley Wood, Worcestershire
Yardley Wood is a large suburban area lying to the south of Hall Green, either side of the River Cole in Worcestershire. It forms an outer southern suburb of Birmingham. Until the Middle Ages much of the southern end of Yardley manor was ancient woodland, in later times the area being known as as Yardley Wood. Yardley Wood remained a rural area of scattered dwellings until after the Second World War when the area saw major housing development. It is within the council area of Birmingham.
