Yardley, Worcestershire

Yardley is a former village that is now an urban area in the east of Birmingham, part of the Yardley salient of Worcestershire. Whilst the ancient manor and ancient parish of Yardley covers a large area in the north-east of Worcestershire, the village of Yardley lies in proximity to the mediæval church of St Edbergh. Within the graveyard is Yardley Old Grammar School, original built in the 15th century and used as a school by 1575. The former Sunday School dates from 1832. The area around the village was developed for housing from the 1930s. The area is within the council area of Birmingham.
