Wythenshawe, Cheshire

Wythenshawe is a town in Cheshire. The Wythenshawe estate was first built in the 1920s with the intention of creating a "garden city". It was named from Wythenshawe Hall, a 16th-century timber-framed manor house. The area was incorporated into the City of Manchester in 1931 and further large-scale development followed in succeeding decades. Wythenshawe Park is a public park comprising the former grounds of Wythenshawe Hall. Wythenshawe is within the council area of Manchester.
