Wymering, Hampshire

Wymering is a former village that is now a northern suburb of Portsmouth, Hampshire. It does not lie on Portsea Island and remained a small rural village until incorporated into the municipal area of Portsmouth in 1920. The area was then substantially developed in the 1920s with the construction of the Wymering Garden Village estate. The current Wymering Manor house dates primarily from the 16th century though the manor itself dates from before the Conquest. It is within the council area of Portsmouth.
