Woodlawn, Antrim
Woodlawn is a former hamlet that is now a suburban area in the north-west of Carrickfergus, County Antrim. It is within the townlands of Middle Division and West Division, in the civil parish of Carrickfergus. The hamlet has lain along the main road north-west out of Carrickfergus (now Woodburn Row) since at least the early 19th century. It was the site of cotton print mills off the Woodburn River. Woodlawn Flax Spinning Mill opened in 1839. The mill closed in the late 20th century and the site redevelopment for housing and industrial use. Woodlawn became surrounded by the expansion of the urban area of Carrickfergus in the post-war years, with a housing estate bearing the Woodlawn name. The area is within the council area of Mid and East Antrim.
