Woodham Village, Durham
Woodham Village (formerly just Woodham) is a village in County Durham. The original mediæval village of Woodham is reputed to have been burned by the Scots in the 13th or 14th centuries and can be seen only as earthworks. Nonetheless, the village retained an identity into the 20th century, comprising Woodham Farm, an inn and a few other buildings. In the 1980s, a housing estate was built on much of the site, being named "Woodham Village" to distinguish the actual village site from the Woodham housing estate of Newton Aycliffe to the west. The village is within the council area of County Durham.
