Wisbech, Cambridgeshire / Norfolk
Wisbech is a market town in the very north of Cambridgeshire, in the Isle of Ely area of the county. The tidal River Nene runs through the centre of the town and is spanned by two bridges. Wisbech was formerly a prosperous port, as ships could enter the town on the river. The port business has now largely moved upstream. Wisbech is noted for its unspoilt Georgian architecture. The Walsoken area in the east and south-east of the town lies in Norfolk. The town is within the council area of Fenland (Cambridgeshire).
