Wilmont, Antrim

Wilmont is a mid 19th-century Italianate country house, located near Dunmurry, County Antrim. The house is within the townland of Old Forge, in the civil parish of Drumbeg. The Wilmont estate was established around the 1760s by William Stewart. The present house was built, originally as two semi-detached dwellings, around 1859 by later owner James Bristow. It is believed to have been designed by Thomas Jackson. In 1919 the estate was sold to Sir Thomas Dixon and Lady Edith Dixon. It now forms Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park, following its gifting to Belfast Corporation by Lady Dixon in 1959. It is within the council area of Belfast.
