Willimoteswick, Northumberland
Willimoteswick Castle is a fortified fifteenth or sixteenth century manor house in Northumberland. Bishop Ridley, who was burned at the stake by Queen “bloody” Mary in 1555 (along with his friend Thomas Latimer), was born there. The remains are from the 12th century and was largely rebuilt about 1900. It is within the council area of Northumberland.
