Willenhall, Staffordshire
Willenhall is a historic market town in Staffordshire. It is situated between Wolverhampton and Walsall. It lies upon the River Tame, and is part of the Black Country. The earliest reference, as 'Willenhalch', is from the 8th century. It is historically famous for the manufacture of locks and keys. For local government purposes, from 1895-1966, it was the basis of Willenhall urban district. Willenhall Town Hall (1935) - now Willenhall library - was designed in the Neo-Georgian style and built in red brick with stone facings. The Locksmith's House museum is typical of the many family run lock making businesses in the town. The town is within the council area of Walsall.
