White Barrows, Devon

White Barrows are a pair of Bronze Age round cairns situated on Quickbeam Hill on Dartmoor, Devon. Western White Barrow survives as a circular stony mound measuring up to 65ft in diameter and 5ft high. A wayside cross is positioned on the cairn, but is inverted. It was one of four set up by Sir William Petre, who had purchased Brent Manor in 1557 and was used to mark the bounds of the Forest of Dartmoor in 1557 and 1786. Eastern White Barrow survives as a circular stony mound measuring up to 80ft in diameter and 10ft high. The monument is within the council area of South Hams (Devon).
