Whiston, Lancashire
Whiston is a town in Lancashire. Whiston is first referred to in 1245, as "Quistan". Whiston became a major coal mining area the 18th and 19th centuries. Whiston is crossed by the historic Liverpool to Manchester Railway. The town is now contiguous with Prescot to its north-west. The town is within the council area of Knowsley.
