Whipsnade Zoo is a zoological park on the Dunstable Downs near Whipsnade, Bedfordshire. The zoo was founded by the Zoological Society of London and opened in 1931. The distinctive white lion hill figure was completed in 1933. The zoo is within the council area of Central Bedfordshire.
