Weston, Hampshire

Weston is a former hamlet that is now a south-eastern suburb of Southampton, Hampshire. Until the 20th century, Weston was a small fishing hamlet on Southampton Water. The earliest reference dates from the 10th century. The area was incorporated into the municipal area of Southampton in 1920 but major development only proceeded after the Second World War. Weston Shore has a shingle beach and is a popular spot to view the first or final trip of every cruise liner into the port of Southampton. Weston is within the council area of Southampton.
