Westbury Court Garden, Gloucestershire

Westbury Court Garden is a late 17th-century Dutch water garden, located at Westbury-on-Severn, Gloucestershire. The garden was initially laid out by the owner of Westbury Court, Maynard Colchester I, in 1696–1705. The garden is a rare survival not to have been replaced in the 18th century by the then-popular naturalistic garden landscape style. The garden's centrepiece is a 450ft long canal centred on a two-storey Dutch style red-brick pavilion at one end and a large wrought iron gate in the wall at the far end. A red-brick summer house (1702–04) overlooks a T-shaped canal running parallel to the main canal. Westbury Court itself was demolished in the early 1960s. The garden was passed to the National Trust in 1967. The site is within the council area of Forest of Dean (Gloucestershire).
