Westbourne Green, Middlesex

Westbourne Green (sometimes just Westbourne) is a former village that is now a metropolitan suburb in the west of Paddington, Middlesex. The manor of Westbourne formed the western part of the ancient parish of Paddington. The settlement was recorded as 'Westeburn' in 1222. It is named after the Westbourne, a tributary of the River Thames, now culverted. Westbourne Green remained a rural village until the 19th century during which it was developed subsequent to the wider development of Paddington to its east and Bayswater to its south. It is within the council area of Westminster.
