West Drayton, Middlesex
West Drayton is a suburban town in Middlesex. It is recorded as Draitone in Domesday, and as Westdrayton in 1465, the 'West' added possibly to differentiate it from Drayton near Ealing. West Drayton is generally south of the line formed by the Great Western Main Line and the Grand Union Canal, with Yiewsley to the north. The 20th century saw West Drayton grow from a large rural village into a suburban town. St Martin's Church dates from the 15th century incorporating parts of its 13th century predecessor. The town is within the council area of Hillingdon.
