West Derby, Lancashire
West Derby is a former village that is now a suburb of Liverpool, Lancashire. West Derby was mentioned in doomsday and became the admininstrative centre of the West Derby Hundred. The West Derby Courthouse, built in 1586, is the only freestanding post-mediæval courthouse in Britain. The area was home to the Earls of Sefton whose house, Croxteth Hall, and the surrounding estate now forms Croxteth Park. West Derby was incorporated into the city of Liverpool in 1895. It is within the council area of Liverpool.
