West Brompton, Middlesex
West Brompton is an urban area in the south-west of Kensington, Middlesex. The area, previously fields and market gardens, was developed during the 19th century. Brompton Cemetery (1840) has a formal layout with a central chapel, based on the design of St Peter’s Basilica in Rome. The Lillie Bridge Grounds (1866-1888) was the home of Middlesex CCC from 1869-1872 before the club moved to Lord's.The area is within the council area of Kensington and Chelsea.
