Wembley Park, Middlesex
Wembley Park is an urban area in Wembley, Middlesex. It lies a mile north-east of Wembley town centre. Wembley Park was developed as a country estate from 1792 by Richard Page, employing the famous landscape architect Humphry Repton. The park was bought by the Metropolitan Railway in 1889 and turned into a pleasure gardens. The park was chosen at the location for the British Empire Exhibition in 1924-5. The Empire Stadium became Wembley Stadium, the home of English football. The Empire Pool (later Wembley Arena) was built next to the stadium in 1934. The park has seen retail and housing developments in the 21st century. The area is within the council area of Brent.
