Welltown Manor, Cornwall
Welltown Manor is a historic yeoman house near Boscastle, Cornwall. The 'yeoman' class of landowning farmers ranked socially between the landed gentry and the peasantry. They were typically independent masters of small estates. The house was likely built for the Tinke family in the early 16th century, and the family owned it for at least a century. In 1609, a family dispute over the property was settled by the Lord Chancellor, which resulted in the house being divided into two parts. In the 17th century, a service room was added to the rear of the house. Further extensions were made around the 18th century, with a later portion of the house being demolished and rebuilt in a single storey before 1840. The house is within the council area of Cornwall.
