Watling Street, Staffordshire
Watling Street is a historic route, running from Dover to Wroxeter, including a section through Stafffordshire. First used by the ancient Britons, the road was later paved by the Romans. Watling Street enters Staffordshire as it crosses the Tame just east of Fazeley and exits the county just west of Weston-under-Lizard. The final stretch of Watling Street in Staffordshire, between Weston under Lizard and the Shropshire border, forms part of the modern-day A5.
