Watergrove is a former hamlet, now submerged under Watergrove Reservoir, at Wardle in Lancashire. The village, largely a Victorian creation, was surrounded by farms dating back to the 1700s. Rochdale Corporation chose Watergrove as a suitable site to build a large reservoir largely due to a prolonged drought in the 1930s, resulting in water regularly being bought from Oldham. The ruins of the old village of Watergrove were submerged under the water in 1938. It is within the council area of Rochdale.
