MenuWat's Dyke, Denbighshire
Wat's Dyke is an early mediæval linear earthwork running for around 40 miles from Basingwerk Abbey in Flintshire, though Denbighshire and ending near Maesbury in Shropshire. It consists of the typical bank and ditch of an ancient dyke, but much of it is now ploughed out. The date of construction is disputed, ranging from sub-Roman to the early ninth century. The section of the dyke to the east of Ruabon in Denbighshire forms a hedgebank. This section is within the council area of Wrexham.
