Walthamstow Village, Essex

Walthamstow Village (also known as Church End) is an urban area in Walthamstow, Essex. It is the site of the original village of Walthamstow, from which the town grew in the late 19th century. St Mary's Church dates from the 12th century, with numerous alterations over the centuries since. The Ancient House is a 15th-century timber-framed hall house. The Nag's Head dates from the 17th century. Vestry House (1730), now a museum, has served as workhouse, church vestry meeting house, police station, private home and is now a museum. The area is within the council area of Waltham Forest.
