Walker, Northumberland
Walker is a former village which is now a suburb in the south-east of Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland. The name of the village (first recorded in 1242) refers to Hadrian's Wall, the course of which passed to its north. Walker grew alongside the shipbuilding yards which lined the River Tyne to its east. Walker is within the council area of Newcastle upon Tyne.
