Wakeley, Hertfordshire

Wakeley is a hamlet and a deserted mediæval village in Hertfordshire. Whilst a small farming hamlet survives at Wakeley, the main part of the village was deserted by the 17th century. Many traces of the main part of the village are visible in Chapel Mead, an eight-acre field just east of Wakeley Farm. Also inside this area is the reputed site of the church (St Giles). The hamlet is within the council area of East Hertfordshire (Hertfordshire).
