Wakefield Cathedral, Yorkshire

Wakefield Cathedral (formally the Cathedral Church of All Saints) is a Church of England cathedral in Wakefield, Yorkshire, in the West Riding. It is one of three co-equal cathedrals in the Diocese of Leeds. Although Norman in origin, the church was largely rebuilt in the Perpendicular Gothic style in the early-15th century. After years of neglect it was again rebuilt in the 18th century. Its late-mediæval appearance dates from a restoration by George Gilbert Scott and John Oldrid Scott between 1858-1874. Its 247-foot spire is the tallest in Yorkshire. It became a cathedral in 1888. The cathedral is within the council area of Wakefield.
