Waddon, Surrey
Waddon is a former village that is now an urban area in the west of Croydon, Surrey. The Waddon Court estate covered most of the area from the Middle Ages. Waddon railway station opened in 1863 after which the area saw industrial and residential development, effectively becoming part of the growing town of Croydon. Croydon Airport operated to the south of Waddon from 1920-1959. The airport’s classically-inspired terminal building (Airport House) and the Aerodrome Hotel remain. The area is within the council area of Croydon.
