Victoria, Middlesex

Victoria is an urban area in Westminster, Middlesex. The name is used to describe streets around Victoria Station (opened 1851 and itself named after Victoria Street), on the western edge of the West End of London. The Victoria Palace Theatre opened in 1911. The Apollo Victoria Theatre, designed in Art Deco style, opened as the New Victoria Cinema in 1930. Westminster Cathedral is the mother church of the Catholic Church in England and Wales and the seat of the Archbishop of Westminster. It was built between 1895 and 1903 in the Neo-Byzantine style. The area is within the council area of Westminster.
