Upton Park, Essex

Upton Park is an urban area in the east of West Ham, Essex. The area was developed from the 1880s to the south of the hamlet of Upton from which it took its name, the 'Park' being added for marketing purposes. The area is usually considered to lie either side of Green Street, meaning that the eastern part lies in East Ham. West Ham United FC played at the Boleyn Ground (commonly referred to as 'Upton Park') from 1904-2016, actually just inside East Ham. The area is within the council area of Newham.
