Upper Tooting, Surrey

Upper Tooting (or Tooting Bec) is a former village that is now an urban area in the north-east of the metropolitan district of Tooting, Surrey. The manor became known as Tooting Bec following its endowment to the abbey of Notre Dame du Bec in Normandy. By the 16th century Tooting Bec was the largest village in the parish of Streatham. Tooting Bec lido opened in 1906. Tooting Bec station, designed by Charles Holden, opened in 1926. It is within the council area of Wandsworth.
