Upper Deal, Kent
Upper Deal is a former village that is now an urban area in the south-west of Deal, Kent. What is now known as Upper Deal is the original village of Deal, listed as 'Addelam' in Domesday. The parish Church of St Leonard’s which was built in around 1180. The Lower Deal area on the coast was developed from the 16th century, growing to become the town of Deal, eventually (in the 20th century) growing to encompass the original village site. It is within the council area of Dover (Kent).
