Upper Ballinderry, Antrim

Upper Ballinderry (aka Ballinderry Upper) is a small village, lying on the north bank of the Ballinderry River in County Antrim. It is within the townland of Ballyscolly, in the civil parish of Ballinderry. The village developed around a cross roads close to Ballinderry Parish Church (Church of Ireland) which dates from 1824. To the west of the village is the Middle Church, built in 1668 and considered one of the finest examples of a plantation church in Ulster. Although replaced as the parish church by the 1824 church, it was restored in 1902 and remains in use. The village is within the council area of Lisburn and Castlereagh.
