Upney, Essex

Upney is a former hamlet that is now an urban area in the east of Barking, Essex. The area was developed for housing in the inter-war period and Upney tube station opened in 1932. Eastbury Manor House (NT) was built in the Elizabethan period, on land which was formerly part of the demesne of Barking Abbey. The area is within the council area of Barking and Dagenham.
