Tweedmouth is a town of Northumberland which has been merged effectively into Berwick-upon-Tweed. The town lies in the Islandshire exclave of County Durham. Tweedmouth stands on the south side of the River Tweed, across the bridges from the old town of Berwick. The 15-arched Old Bridge was built of local sandstone in 1610 by order of James VI and I, and formed part of the Great North Road between London and Edinburgh. The town is within the council area of Northumberland.
