Tuckton, Hampshire
Tuckton is a suburban village in Hampshire. First recorded in 1271, Tuckton remained a hamlet into the 20th century, during which it became increasingly suburbanised alongside the development of Southbourne to its south, eventually becoming contiguous with Southbourne. From 1900-1913 a group of exiled followers of Leo Tolstoy, heading by his literary agent Vladimir Chertkov, took up residence at Tuckton House, producing English-language versions of Tolstoy's works.
