Trewan Hall, Cornwall

Trewan Hall is a Jacobean-style manor house near St Columb Major, Cornwall. It was the ancestral estate of the Vivian family (later Vyvyan) for over 300 years. The existing main house dates from around 1633 and was built by the Vivian family. 19th century remodelling maintained the character of the 17th-century house, and features interesting transitional Gothic and classical styles, particularly in the gatehouse. In 1920 Major Richard Vyvyan sold Trewan, though the house and garden have remained in private ownership. The garden has been opened on occasion as part of the National Gardens Scheme. It is within the council area of Cornwall.
