Treorchy, Glamorgan

Treorchy is a town in Rhondda Fawr valley in Glamorgan. The town grew around the coal mining industry during the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, but by the end of the twentieth century all the local pits had closed. Treorchy has become a town with a large commuter population, with the main local employment being in retail. The town is within the council area of Rhondda Cynon Taf.
