Trentham Estate, Staffordshire
The Trentham Estate is a historic estate, dating to pre-Conquest times, at Trentham, Staffordshire. The estate was the site of Trentham Priory from the 11th century until the Dissolution. In 1540 the estate was sold to James Leveson whose descent Sit Richard Leveson built the first of several houses in 1634. The sculpture gallery and clock tower remain, along with the ruins of the Grand Entrance and Orangery. The Italianate gardens, designed by Capability Brown, were restored in 2002-3.
