Trelowarren, Cornwall

Trelowarren is a historic manor house near Mawgan, Cornwall. The estate, which currently covers 1,000 acres on the Helford river, passed to the Vyvyan family through marriage in 1450, and had previously belonged to the Ferrers and the Cardinans before them. The original property was substantially rebuilt, remodelled and extended between 1609-1665 by Sir Francis Vyvyan. There was some remodelling in the 18th century involving the architect Thomas Edwards, and considerable works and remodelling in the 19th century, principally during the period of Sir Richard Rawlinson Vyvyan from 1827 to 1870. The estate currently offers self-catering cottages, bed and breakfast accommodation, and is home to woodlands, gardens, walking trails, and a restaurant. The Vyvyan family has retained ownership of the house and estate into the 21st century. The house is within the council area of Cornwall.
