Tottington, Lancashire

Tottington is a town in Lancashire. The earliest extant record of Tottington is from 1212. Tottington saw a large industrial presence develop during the Industrial Revolution. Tottington was hit by a V-1 flying bomb on Christmas Eve 1944, killing six. Whitehead Gardens was built on the site. Tottington Hall, an early 19th century five-bay detached house, is now the town library. The town is within the council area of Bury.
