Tonedale, Somerset

Tonedale is a historic industrial district on the northern edge of Wellington, Somerset. Tonedale Mills, famous for the production of 'Taunton serge' and the khaki cloth used by the British Army, was established in the late 18th century by Fox Brothers & Co. Though large-scale production ended in the 1990s, small-scale production continues. Tonedale House, a Palladian-style villa, was built in 1801 by Thomas Fox.
