Tolpuddle Martyrs' Tree, Dorset
The Tolpuddle Martyrs' Tree is a sycamore tree which has become associated with the birth of the trade unionist movement, situated in Tolpuddle, Dorset. The tree is over 340 years old. In 1833 the tree was used as a meeting point for the six agricultural labourers later known as the 'Tolpuddle Martyrs'. The tree is in the care of the National Trust. It is within the council area of Dorset.
